Senior Experience

What is Senior Experience?

• A program offered during the final 2.5-3 weeks of the academic year which aims to facilitate the transition from high school to the “real-world”
• W-L seniors are excused from classes and final exams to pursue work, internship, or volunteer opportunities, or undertake an independent project
• The program is designed to allow students the opportunity to:
  • relate academics to the work world via career experiences and community service
  • gain real life experience to enhance interpersonal and workplace skills
  • work with professionals in a variety of workplaces
  • give back to the APS and W-L community

Full details will be shared to students in February 2026, in the Senior Experience Canvas Course (invites will be sent in February)

Senior Experience 2026 General Timeline:

Early February 2026 – Senior Experience Kickoff Video Posted and Canvas course invitations sent

March/April 2026 – Student Information & Parent Permission Form due in Canvas

Mid April 2026 – Senior Experience Application due in Canvas

Early May 2026 – Mentor Confirmation due in Canvas

Mid May 2026 – Senior Survey due in Canvas

May 22, 2026 – Last day of school for Seniors

Senior Experience 2026 Specific Dates:

Friday May 22, 2026 – Last day of school for Seniors who have satisfied all graduation requirements

Monday May 26, 2026 – Wednesday June 11, 2026 –  Senior Experience: Seniors who have satisfied all graduation requirements can work at their job, volunteer, or complete a special project during the day.  Students will log their hours on a timesheet throughout these 2.5 weeks, which will be signed by their mentor and submitted in Canvas at the conclusion of Senior Experience.  Students will also submit a reflection in Canvas at the conclusion of Senior Experience.

Thursday June 11, 2026: Senior Day at WL, Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal at 9:45am in the Gym.

Saturday June 13, 2026: Graduation at 9:30am at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA
