IB Social / Cultural Anthropology HL Students Speak via Skype with Hong Kong Professor

Senior students of IB Social / Cultural Anthropology HL who are reading the book “Ghetto At the Center of the World: Chungking Mansions, Hong Kong” by Gordon Mathews, Professor of Anthropology at Hong Kong University, got the opportunity to speak via Skype with Professor Mathews this morning.

The students asked Professor Mathews questions about the book, his travels and his career in Anthropology, as well as recent Hong Kong Political upheavals. Professor Mathews was kind enough to Skype with us at 8:45pm local time which is 8:45am (EST). He answered every question with inspirational stories and humor. It is rare for an academic to take the time to talk with high school students and it was appreciated by Anthropology students from W-L.
