The WL Library has a lot to offer staff/teachers. We can support student learning through teaching research skills, including using our online databases and citing sources, borrow or buy the books you need, and are always happy to collaborate with you on instruction.   • WatchKnowLearn – thousands of educational videos on a wide variety of subjects organized into a searchable Directory
  • eMediaVA – contains more than 100,000 digital learning objects, video, audio, interactive and graphic elements all correlated to Virginia’s SOLs. If you do not have an account, put in a 2847@apsva.usticket for assistance.

Social Studies

  • Digital History Reader– An online learning experience designed to enable students to develop the analytical skills employed by historians.
  • National History Education Clearinghouse – Created by GMU’s Center for History and New Media and the Stanford University History Education Group, this site provides content, best practices, teaching materials, research, and professional development in the area of history education.

Science

  • Science.gov – Free access to research and development results and scientific and technical information from scientific organizations across 13 federal agencies
  • NASA – Free access to learning resources from NASA including data sets, multimedia, images, videos and other hands on activities

Smithsonian

Reading Resources

  • AdLit.org – A national multimedia project offering information and resources to the parents and educators of struggling adolescent readers and writers
  • ReadWriteThink – Provides access to high quality practices and resources in reading and language arts instruction
  • LibriVox – Download free audiobooks in the public domain
  • Newsela – news articles adapted for different reading levels (access in Canvas)
  • Bookshare – a free nonprofit library for students with learning differences. Find over 5 million ebooks in audio, audio + highlighted text, large font, braille, and other alternative formats that make reading easier.
  • AIM-VA – provides accessible instructional materials to eligible Virginia K-12 students who have an Individualized Education Program and are unable to access traditional print.
