Students approach photography as an art form. They will learn to use a single lens reflex (SLR) camera. They produce prints through various processes to include digital technology. Topics covered include history of photography, elements and principles of design, lighting, and camera functions. This course is a prerequisite for Photography II, III and AP. A lab fee of $50.00 is charged for inks, paper and photo equipment.
Photography II : Prerequisite: Photo I In this advanced course, emphasis is placed on artistic and expressive solutions to a variety of photography problems that expand the basic concepts and techniques learned in Photography I. Works of major photographic artists are studied as they relate to photographic problems explored.
Photography III : Prerequisite: Photo II Students engage in advanced study of photographic processes. They practice the attitude and self-discipline of a working artist. A final portfolio evidencing technical proficiency, quality, concentration, and breadth of experience is required.
AP Studio Art: Photography : Prerequisite: Photo III (one credit + 1.0 quality point) The course addresses three major areas: high quality in the works; concentration on a particular visual interest; and breadth of experience in art production.
