Annual Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair Honors James Licato (Grade 12) and Madi Goeke (Grade 10)

Washington – Liberty HS Students James Licato (Grade 12) and Madi Goeke (Grade 10) recognized at the (virtual) Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair held on April 10, 2021.

1st Place in Earth & Environmental Sciences James Licato “Development of a Zeolite Composite Material for the Simultaneous Removal of Pharmaceuticals, Personal Care Products (PPCPs) and Perflourinated Alkyl Substances (PFAS) in Water Treatment”.

Honorable Mention in Earth & Environmental Sciences Madi Goeke “A Solution to Plastic Pollution: An Investigation into Microplastic Removal from Water Using Ferrofluid”.

Special Awards to Madi Goeke from the American Meteorological Society. Also, Special Awards to James Licato from Leidos, Ricoh, & 1st Place ($500) Virginia Section of American Water Works Association.
