Angela Dignan, a graduating senior at Washington Liberty, has been selected for the NSLI-Y Program 8-10-month academic year scholarship program.
Angela will study at Dan Jiang University in Taiwan during her freshman year. This is an outstanding achievement, as NSLI-Y receives approximately 3,000 applicants each year, with an acceptance rate of about 10-15 percent. Only 20 students were selected to travel to Taiwan this September.
The scholarship covers the full academic-year program, including international flights, housing with a host family, tuition and intensive language instruction, meals, cultural activities and excursions, insurance, transportation, program support, spending money, and phone support. The total value of the scholarship is estimated at more than $40,000.
Angela is very excited for this incredible Chinese immersion opportunity and the chance to continue developing her language skills and intercultural understanding in Taiwan. We are also grateful for our Chinese teachers, whose commitment to language learning and cultural understanding continues to inspire and support our students.
