The Cappies Nominations Announced

Washington – Lee HS students were acknowledged for their efforts the school’s winter production of “Pippin.” Zeke Albro was nominated as Best Lead Actor in a Musical for his performance as the title character as well as Julia Elman was nominated as Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Berthe.

The Cappies, described as, the Tony Awards for High School Theatres encompass roughy 70 participating schools in our area. To participate, each school must have a Critic’s Team that sees at least five shows from other Capital area High Schools throughout the year. The critics write reviews of each show and the best are selected for publication. At the end of the year, the critics vote on a variety of different categories including, Best Play, Best Musical, Best Actor, Actress, Set, Costumes, ETC. The winners are announced at a huge Red-Carpet gala at the Kennedy Center.
