Student Awarded Scholarship to Study Arabic for U.S.Dept. of State

Lara Mohamed, was awarded a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Virtual Summer Intensive scholarship to study Arabic language for six weeks. The NSLI-Y is a program of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) that promotes critical language learning among American youth. The unique program provides robust language and cultural learning opportunities by virtually connecting the participants with overseas teachers, international peers, cultural organizations, and communities where the target language is spoken.

W-L students surpassed their worldwide peers in diploma pass rate, average score pass rate, and the average points earned by diploma candidates. The overall pass rate for all W-L students participating in IB classes, including Diploma Candidates and Course Candidates, is the highest in the 25-year history of IB at Washington - Liberty High School at 92.6%.
