14th Annual “Poetry Out Loud” Winners Announced

Our school-wide competition for the nationally based competition: “Poetry Out Loud” was held last night in the Library. This year’s placement of winners for Washington – Lee HS were: Kristen Alleyne (1st), Sabrina Shuster (2nd), and Rai Gilpin (3rd).

“Poetry Out Loud” requires students to recite prominent poems from memory. Competitors are heavily evaluated in their ability to recite and in their delivery of chosen poems. In 2017, we have 14 students competing across all four grade levels. In past years, Washington – Lee HS has fostered great success with competitors winning Regional, States, onto the National stage.
