National Honor Society

The National Honor Society recognizes students for scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Membership in the Washington-Liberty chapter is open to Juniors and Seniors who have at least a 3.5 cumulative, unweighted GPA and are recommended by the NHS faculty advisory board.

Qualified candidates are invited to the WL National Honor Society Application Canvas Course in December. Juniors or seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA unweighted have received an invitation to the Canvas course. There are three components necessary for consideration: a student application, teacher recommendation, and service endorsement. All three components are collected via Google sheets and the links are available in the Canvas course. Students are responsible for providing the links to the teacher of their choice, and an individual that can attest to their participation in a service activity.

The deadline for all three components is December 20, 2024, at 3:10pm (hard deadline). Applicants will receive communication regarding acceptance the second week of January and the induction ceremony will be held in early February. NHS meets monthly (the second Monday of each month) in the Little Theater. Communication is facilitated through Canvas announcements. Members are required to perform a minimum of 15 hours of service each year, attend all meetings, pay yearly dues, maintain their cumulative GPA of 3.5 unweighted or above, and uphold the standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
