Summer Residential Governor’s School

Applications are open for the Academic Programs in the VDOE Summer Residential Governor’s Schools (SRGS).

These opportunities provide rising juniors and seniors (current 10th and 11th graders) with intensive educational experiences in agriculture; humanities; medicine and health sciences; mathematics, science, and technology; or through mentorships in marine science or engineering.While these programs are highly rigorous and competitive, we encourage all of you to apply!

Step 1: Complete the Program Interest Form

Filling out this form will indicate to the W-L Advanced Academics Coach that you are interested in applying for this program. They will contact you with the enroll code to the CANVAS course that will provide all the information about applying for the program.

Step 2: Enroll in SRGS CANVAS course. This course will provide valuable information to complete your application. This is where you will submit your application and materials.

Step 3: Review Materials. Once you are in the course review all materials to include student handbook and teacher recommendation forms.

Step 4: Send out Teacher Recommendation forms. Each application contains 2 teacher recommendation forms: Teacher recommendation A and Teacher Recommendation B. The PDF version of each form is included in the course. Email these forms separately to your teachers requesting them to fill them out and copy and send back to Elizabeth.Burgos@apsva.us.

Step 5: Complete application and essays by January 24, 2025. You will submit the filled out application pdf in the CANVAS course as an assignment. Elizabeth.Burgos@apsva.us is the W-L school contact.
