Four W-L senior Technology & Engineering ladies have been participating in a new program, “Drive Like a Girl” hosted by STEM For Her and Audi. The girls; Annabelle Bailey, Isabella Corry, Colette McCord-Snook, and Livia Polise met for six two-hour sessions after school with an Audi Mentor, Ava Kingsley and Ms. Meyer, Technology & Engineering Teacher to work on a real-world design problem.
The students chose to focus their efforts on what a car could be like in the future; they had many radical yet feasible ideas to present to Audi and STEM for Her employees. With the girls busy schedule during their senior year they gave up many Friday afternoons in order to make group sessions and see the project through until the end. Their hard work and dedication paid off because the girls swept the competition and took 1st Place!
The girls had a fantastic presentation where they clearly and confidently expressed their design concepts to high ranked industry professionals. The girls obtained awesome goodies from Audi and STEM for Her as well as a $1,500 prize donated to W-L Technology & Engineering Department. The ladies presented their final design concepts on Wednesday, December 6th at Audi Headquarters in Herndon, VA along with other local competing teams; Wakefield High School also participated in this amazing opportunity. Congratulations ladies!
